Homemade tallow storage question - histamines?
Hi everyone!
I have about 4 safe foods I can eat with no reaction and 4 I can eat with mild ones. Unfortunately the only time I can seem to tolerate fat is when it’s from the grass fed LH beef I order.
I’ve been trying to find ways to stop dropping weight and realized tallow might help! However, store bought tallow has not been something I respond well to, even the stuff from like Whole Foods that should meet criteria for organic, grass fed etc. I was thinking about making my own because the farm I order from sells LH fat/or saving what renders out of fattier cuts in my instant pot but I was curious about histamines and storage.
Leftovers (even when frozen) are a no go for me right now so the thought of saving a fat to use throughout the week etc seems like it wouldn’t be successful. I’ve done some surface level research though and it seems that pure fats don’t have histamines or they are very low if purified properly.
Does anyone make their own tallow? Have any experience with this? I know MCAS is suuuuuch a case by case basis so what works for one may not work for me but I just wanted to see what people are thinking :)
