Hi, I am an intern who works in an agency and I love my role and because of it I joined and started working a lot. I work so much that my manager became so irresponsible and unaccountable that he did not do any work and he did not account for any productivity. All he did was check in, meet his situationship, flunk around with his friends, and forward the task that I have done on the reports that I have given to him in DMs to the client channels. That was pretty much it.

Now I got another offer from a firm and they are giving me a really good hike and I am really grateful for that hike. I told about this to my HR and my HR said that I need to fulfil the internship notice period, which is of 30 days. I tried everything and they are not accepting a mutual agreement of serving the notice period through work from home. I gave them a lot of emails and specifically mentioned that I am only available for any knowledge transfer that you might be needing and I am resigning effective immediately. I did everything and even showed up for five days and nothing happened. Instead of giving a leave or keeping me for the sake alone, they are assigning new and new work to me.

Since I am somebody who does not know how to say no, I often ask to do it and then I have to do it. Now this has left me frustrated and I am not able to properly align to the new job that I have been given, which is effective immediately. How do you think I should go about it? What is the worst that they can do to me? Can they actually send me a legal notice? One more thing to know is that in the contract they had written that I will have to serve a 30-day notice period. However I never signed the contract. I sent them the same contract PDF that they sent me without my sign and the HR did not bother to see. Though I wrote "I have signed the document" but idk how I sent them the same doc by mistake. I asked a lawyer on what they could do and he said nothing because you didn't sign the document. This is something I also realised only until 5 or 6 days ago when I applied for resignation. Now is there anything that they can actually do because they underpay me a lot and they milk me like I am a cow!

Ps: a screenshot of how I am now responding to my manager attached because I am so frustrated. Not so much by the work but more by the absolute inflexibility of both the HR and my reporting manager on making me do the work. Had they actually respected my stance i would've still tried to make it work out.
