Shocked that this medication is helping me

Good News/ Positive update

Something that’s helped me a lot that I did not suspect would was metformin. I don’t want to go through my whole story but I have a major background in health, nutrition, science, functional medicine. I had never used medications until endo became so severe. Anyways I started working with a doctor via Allara and she did labs and said I was moderately insulin resistant. I had never been insulin resistant before (I have don’t labs on myself and know how to red labs for many years) but given how I’ve been in a 1.5 year long flare, I’ve become sedentary and lots of inflammation.

Also my labs would not have been observed like this from a regular doctor, since they don’t typically order insulin, and levels were not out of the ranges. My insulin was 10 and my fast glucose was 97 (all within in lab range). She calculated my HOMA-IR and it was 2.6 which again isn’t anything crazy but it definitely is insulin resistance. She prescribed 500 mg or the time release metformin and I can’t tell you how different I’m beginning to feel. So much more energy, I haven’t had a full blown flare or symptoms since, I am starting my period tomorrow and I feel a little inflamed but still functional, I’ve been able to do more and my mental health is improving and this is while slowly withdrawing from Benzos! Which last time I tried to come off it was night mare,

Anyways if you hit that major energy slump from like 2-5 Every day where you feel like you can’t move and feel like you have the flu, check your HOMA-IR, Allara takes insurance so I haven’t paid anything!

Feeling thankful and hopeful again after such a long and painful journey

(Also I was looking into metformin and endo and there’s some interesting research on how it may be helping, you can just google or chat gpt it)
