Hi everyone,

I recently moved into my first home, and I’m finally starting a project I’ve been looking forward to for a long time: putting together my first proper hi-fi system.

After countless hours of research, and going way too deep down the audio rabbit hole, I think I’ve settled on the following setup:
KEF Q3 Meta in walnut
WiiM Amp
Floor stands with black bases

I really like the WiiM Amp because it seems to offer excellent value, room correction, easy streaming, and a simple path to adding a WiiM Sub Pro later. Its compact size would also let me place it behind the sofa, which should make cable management much cleaner.

The room is an open-concept living, dining, and kitchen area. My main listening position will be the black chair facing the speakers, although I’d still like the system to sound enjoyable while sitting or lying on the sofa. And majority of the time will be music in background with guests and while cooking.

Speaker placement is my biggest concern. The speakers would be relatively close to the rear (approx 50cm) and side walls (approx 15cm) so I’m wondering whether the Q3 Meta will still work well in this space or whether I should consider something smaller, such as the Q1 Meta.
I may add a sub eventually.

The first picture shows the view from the sofa, with an AI rendering of the proposed speaker placement. The second picture shows the open dining room and kitchen behind the listening area.

Before pulling the trigger, I’d really appreciate your thoughts:
Does the Q3 Meta seem like the right speaker for this room? I loved the concerto but they dont pass the wife test.

Will the WiiM Amp drive them comfortably? I dont want the Pro because of airplay.

Do you see any major issues with the proposed placement?

Would you change anything about this setup?

Thanks!

Ps: posting in KEF community because im pretty fix on this brand.
