Ants in run

Has anyone dealt with the run being… overrun (pun not intended) with ants? I’m not talking about a handful of ants… they’re all over. Our property tends to be really bad with ants in general.

I’d like to reduce the ant population some because I can barely go in there without coming out with ants crawling up my legs.

I’ve heard of borax and peanut butter will kill ants. Is that safe to use near (outside) the run to kill the ants without hurting the chickens? Open to other ideas.
