I made a girl feel very unsafe back in high school

Confession

This is something that happened final year of high school. I at the time had very incel, very psychotic tendencies. I was good friends with this girl, whom I liked.

Idolizing someone you know. Becoming preoccupied with whether a particular person likes you. Feeling that being chosen by someone would make you feel better. That incel stuff. Anyway I confessed and she rejected.

I don't remember the specific messages that I sent, and they're also deleted, but imagine this. Have you ever seen a screenshot of a guy, on a dating app or something, crashing out because a girl rejected him? And his messages were creepy and long and weird? It's that stuff. I was a very sheepish 17 year old. It's the begging and the whining and the signs of just very like low self esteem. My school was extremely worried about my health from reading the messages and contacted professional help.

I moved out of country for college and sort of moved on. By moving on I mean promising myself I could never do that again, or get anywhere close to that pathetic mindset. Of course, there was never saving that friendship, I know that. Just bad stuff and bad "nice guy" vibes. I've since tried to be more active in social life and develop an actual personality, maintain healthy relationships with my friends and improve social readings. I've had a relationship since and learned from that incident. I hope nobody has to experience being on the other side of that.

I'm home now to visit my family. Now, I have hereditaried insomnia and I maintain a very strict sleep hygiene. That has helped. Lately I've been losing so much sleep, and that routine has been disrupted, sometimes up for almost the whole night. With all that time alone with my thoughts, this is one of the few things that my mind would wonder to. That's why I'm writing this. Have I or have I not moved on from this? I can't tell.
