I wanna try asking for meds that are focus/ADHD related, but I don't know how to bring it up
Hi, I suspected ADHD for a very very long time, even before therapy and while I was highly functional I was trying to escape the responsibilities with little to no consequence and procrastinated. I didn't want to procrastinate, I still don't want to, yet procrastinating/dissociating was the only time I could actually "relax". Whenever I try to take a break I am overwhelmed with guilt, this has created a loop in the past few years and now I'm really struggling to get started on studying in uni, when I do I tend to fall asleep less than one hour in. I'm in therapy and medicated for MDD, anxiety and a dissociative disorder, but I'm not on any meds related to ADHD, my attention span has been brought up in sessions but without any link to the disorder. I fall within all the conditions on the DSM-5, but I'm scared to bring it up in therapy, I don't want sound pretentious, it's a debilitating condition that everyone seems to have, I don't wanna self diagnose. Have you ever brought up a possible diagnosis yourself? What's your experience?
