Burning wire smell from vents?

Hi!

I live in a brand new building and since January, there is a burning wire(?) smell that comes and goes. My brand new microwave exploded late December and the smell started after that.

The smell is so strong that it gives me a headache. It’s such a weird smell I don’t even know how to properly describe it. It’s started to linger in my foyer and you can smell it as soon as you come in now.

I’ve told my property manager like 10 times and she’s sent maintenance in a handful of times and they keep telling me it’s coming from outside. I know it’s not coming from outside, it’s coming from the electrical panel. It is also coming out of all the vents in my apartment including the outtake one on my balcony. Regardless of where it’s coming from, it’s an issue.

I messaged her today and told her that I specifically want an HVAC Technician sent in to look at it. I told her that if it can’t be fixed, my apartment is unlivable. I’m worried about the smell making my kitties sick.

WHAT IS THIS SMELL???????

Also I’m seriously considering calling the fire department next time it happens because I’m worried for my safety. Is that wrong to do? I’m so fed up.
