First Post Divorce Breakup
Now, I don’t know that I would call this a breakup because we didn’t do the official boyfriend/girlfriend title, but I was seeing a guy and was really enjoying him. We laid our cards on the table about what we wanted and what we could offer each other. I was glowing, I was prioritized and very pleased (after coming out of a dead bedroom, this is exactly what I needed). And then there was a shift. After the last time I saw him, the conversation wasn’t as lively. There are some personal things at play that aren’t mine to divulge but it meant that he couldn’t show up for me the way that I needed in order to be happy. He wasn’t as aware of it as he should have been, that it was impacting our relationship. When I told him what I wasn’t getting, he laid everything out, I told him my needs and he just couldn’t provide it given the current state of things. So it’s over.
I was somber the day of but now the feeling has faded. This wasn’t going to be a long term situation but I’d hoped it would last longer than it did.
What I learned: omission of information is still lying, there are emotionally unavailable keywords, I want someone who lives closer, I do have expectations and I do want strings (minus children, cohabitation, and marriage), I want a relationship.
I was given advice that didn’t serve me and I stayed in this longer than I would have, I’m out and I’ll get back to happy glow soon enough on my own. I don’t miss him so much as the experiences of being with him. There will be others.
