lesbian trans woman in a straight society

Discussion

context of me: early 20s started hrt like a year ago, white lesbian from US

I've been revisiting a lot of the music from my childhood (00s/10s) that I heard on the radio using youtube, trying to replace all of the "male" versions of things with a the female version to give myself the girlhood I never had, and I came to the realization that everything is just, so....straight lol. Like at the beginning everything was euphoric, I had repressed all womanly sides of myself and never consumed any female media growing up from how much I had a bad experience early on with girls and not being allowed to play with girls growing up/homophobia/transphobia all around me (welcome to transwomanhood lol). But recently I got over the hump of being comfortable with feminine clothing and being a girl doing girl things and just dancing around and speaking more fem and stuff. But now, when I go and watch these videos and listen to a lot of the female pop artists, the problem isn't that I'm shameful about my femininity or see myself as a man anymore, its that everything is just so male centered. The girls get interviewed by men about their potential boyfriend or being called fat because they aren't anorexic or just a whore/deviant basically by the press. "what do the boys think of this" and its like who the fuck cares? I don't! lol. Its like being a woman was hard enough. And then being a lesbian is way worse. and then being a TRANS lesbian is just another thing that nobody has even heard of. I'm lucky to not be a person of color because then you have even LESS media representation or things to latch onto or identify with or see yourself in and that only makes it so much more difficult, I have lots of white girls/white passing girls in popular media to see myself in and identify with which makes it easier. I obviously don't have to keep listening or consuming only straight girl content but I feel like it lets me see what kind of girl I would have been or what I would have felt like early childhood had I not been trans and just another cis girl.

has anyone else gone through a similar experience?
