Should I switch from night shift to day shift? Looking for advice.
Hi everyone, I'd really appreciate some advice.
I'm from the Philippines and I've been working the night shift from home for the past two years. Recently, I had a meeting with my boss, who's based in the US. He asked whether I'd be interested in switching to a day shift (Philippine Time) since most of my work is automated, and it doesn't really affect the team what time I complete my tasks. My salary and workload would stay exactly the same.
For context, my job is mostly repetitive. On some days, I can finish my automated work in about three hours, then I usually have downtime before my shift ends.
One thing that really stood out to me was what my boss said. He told me he wants me to have a "normal life," which I thought was incredibly thoughtful. I also know that switching to a day shift would probably do wonders for my sleep schedule and overall routine.
Right now, I'm thinking about suggesting a two-month trial. I've been on nights for two years, so it would definitely be an adjustment, but I feel like it's worth testing before making it a permanent change.
Has anyone here made the switch from night shift to day shift while working remotely? How was the adjustment? Did it improve your quality of life, or were there unexpected downsides?
If you were in my position, what would you do?
