GorillaPod 5K Kit Review Flexible Tripod That Works in Any Environment

I grabbed a GorillaPod 5K Kit before a weekend trip because I wanted something easier to carry than my regular tripod. I honestly didn't expect to use it as much as I did.

The best part is how you can wrap the legs around almost anything. I've attached it to tree branches, railings, fences, and even a park bench. It made getting camera angles that would've been impossible with a normal tripod.

It's also pretty solid if you pair it with the right camera setup. I use it with a mirrorless camera and a mid sized lens, and it holds up just fine. I still make sure the legs are wrapped tight and balanced before letting go. Better safe than sorry.

One thing I found out is that dirt and sand can get into the leg joints if you're shooting outdoors a lot. I started giving it a quick wipe after each trip, and it still moves smoothly.

It's not something I'd use for every situation. If I'm doing long exposures in strong wind, I still grab my full size tripod. But for travel, vlogging, or shooting in weird spots, it's been awesome.

If you like getting creative with your camera angles, this little thing is worth checking out. It's one of those pieces of gear that ends up solving problems you didn't even know you had.
