Sinus Pressure
Hi everyone! This is my first year experiencing seasonal allergies and I have a question regarding one of my potential symptoms. I wanna know if anyone can relate to my experience.
This past June I began to experience allergy symptoms for the first time: super itchy and dry eyes (especially outside) and sneezing fits in the morning/night or when I was exposed to a lot of trees and grass.
My symptoms were manageable with eyedrops and saline spray so I did not give them much thought.
Though, ever since the 18th of June (now 13th July) I've been suffering from almost constant sinus pressure. I wake up in the morning and the pressure develops within an hour of getting out of bed. At first, it sometimes made me a little dizzy and gave me brain fog, now I can go about my life with the pressure lingering around at the same intensity all day, every day.
A week before I went to the ENT I began using Flonase, but it did not help at all. The pressure stayed there (on my forehead, on the bridge of my nose). My ENT ruled out a sinus infection, as I don't have any nasal discharge at all or other infection indicators. They did find "thickened/swollen nasal lining" and "moderate enlargement of the left inferior turbinate" so they gave me the Allergic rhinitis and vasomotor rhinitis diagnosis.
I was prescribed Ryaltris and told to keep using saline spray + to go get my allergies tested. So far I have not had any improvement with the pressure, although I know it can take up to two weeks for the medication to make a difference.
My other allergy symptoms are not prominent anymore, especially since I started using the sprays.
Can anyone relate to this? Has anyone experienced this kind of pressure as their primary symptom? How do you manage? What do you use? How long did it take for your symptoms to improve?
Any insight would be very helpful, the constant pressure is taking a toll on my mental well-being:,)
Extra question for those who menstruate!!! Has your allergy sinus pressure ever gotten worse on your period? I developed pretty bad headaches and the pressure on my forehead worsened while I was on my period. I also sounded super congested even though I wasn't at all! The headaches and congested voice went away gradually after my period.
