School deliberately made false statements to OSAP
Location: Ontario
The situation is a bit complicated, but in a nutshell: I attended a school outside Canada before the restrictions came into effect, so the school itself had to fill out parts of my OSAP application. I've since noticed they misrepresented a few things:
- Co-op only applies starting in second year, but the school listed it as applying from first year.(On the school official add for the program, the school mentioned as somewhat is co-op is mandatory, but in fact it only kicks in the second year)
- My program length (excluding co-op) is actually 5 months shorter, but the school included the co-op period as part of the actual in-school period.
- School represented as a program as Masters, but upon investigation I've noticed that school lacked many accrediations leading that this is a certificate, not a masters program according to local laws
- School represented themselves as a legit school, but my investigation revealed that the school was actually a vocational school for the program that I attended but was never disclosed anywhere in the program, the contract and any official documents from the school itself.
- When I asked all about this, the school was dead silent and only replied when a registered letter letter was sent to the school and the response from the schools legal team was a legal threat from them.
- The school is under official investigation by local national government and I have received official letter from the ministry of internal affairs acknowledging the issue. The ministry has launched an official law change regarding this matter (note the details about the school's issue were not searchable due to privacy laws in the local and was not searchable in Canada. I had to use VPN and specific ways to figure it out about the details about the school)
(note these are just portions that I've found and there is a lot more)
Now what I'm worried is that I may be considered fraud by OSAP and may be charged with serious legal issues(although I was only aware of this in the aftermath of being registered in the midway of the program). Can anyone give me advice on how to I should mention this to the OSAP?
