34M - Quitting a 27-year PMO habit. Experienced problems on day 14. Need advice/insight.
Hi everyone, posting from a semi throwaway account for obvious reasons.
I am a 34-year-old male. I was unfortunately introduced to adult content when I was 7 years old, meaning I have been dealing with this habit for 27 years.
I am finally taking control of my life and trying to get adult content out of it completely.
Recently, I tried quitting cold turkey and successfully made it to 14 days. However, I experienced some frightening physical symptoms:
Day 12: I noticed small amounts of fresh, bright red blood when wiping after a bowel movement.
Day 14: My first bowel movement had small amounts of fresh blood. My second bowel movement of the day was just blood, nothing else.Out of panic and frustration, I relapsed (adult content and masturbation).
Interestingly, as soon as I relapsed, the bleeding completely stopped and hasn't returned.
Important Context:This is not the first time this has happened. Every single time I try to quit, this rectal bleeding occurs, and it always stops immediately after a relapse.
I have never had any issues with urination. There is no pain, no burning, no weak flow, and absolutely no blood in my urine. The blood only ever appears during or after a bowel movement.
Note: I already have an appointment booked with my doctor this Wednesday to get fully checked out, so I am taking the medical side seriously.
My questions for this community are:
Has anyone else experienced rectal bleeding, intense pelvic tension, or hemorrhoid flare-ups when suddenly stopping long-term usage? Could the sudden shift in pelvic muscle tension or prostate fluid build-up cause this?
Moving forward, I want to completely eliminate adult content, but I am thinking about continuing masturbation without screens to ease the physical transition and dopamine crash. Has this "masturbation-only" approach worked for those of you who had 20+ year addictions?
Appreciate any insights or real-world experiences you can share. Thanks.
