Hiii. I’m almost 6 weeks pregnant and i have hyperthyroidism. my levels are out of wack, but honestly they always are. I haven’t had stable labs for years. my most recent labs tsh is 0.010 and my t4 is 1.95. i take methimazole 10mg twice a day.

since finding out i was pregnant, i haven’t take the methimazole because of the side effect risks for the baby. i’m highly highly allergic to PTU. i found that out with my first pregnancy 3 years ago. i was on it my whole first trimester and was hospitalized a few times because of it. it gave me a bad skin reaction, basically peeled my skin off.

My OB wants me to continue the methimazole, but i just rather risk it and have the PTU to keep the baby safe. So my OB basically just took me off her services, and told me to go to the ER an hour away to be seen by the OB and endocrinologist there. I don’t think she meant it in a bad way, i think it’s just out of her scope.

I don’t know what to do. I’m stumped. Any advice?
