Pioneer PL-320 speed issues

Hi all,

I just got my hands on my childhood record player. 35 years ago when i last used it, i remember the speed wasn't consistent. Now that I tried it, the platter either fails to start spinning or it spins at crazy speed. I have seen a video where the guy sprays contact cleaner at the switches and potentiometers. Anything else I should look for? I wouldn't mind taking it to a workshop but the fact is that people who used to service these things (along with cassette players) are scarce to find if non-existent!
