Can I still receive my Summer Direct Subsidized Loan refund if I completed my MPN and Entrance Counseling late?
Hi everyone, I’m hoping someone who’s been through this or works in financial aid can help.
I’m a student at the University of Houston. I was offered a Summer 2026 Direct Subsidized Loan ($2,750) and a $1,000 Direct Unsubsidized Loan.
I already paid my summer tuition balance, so my school account currently has a $0 balance.
I recently completed both my Master Promissory Note (MPN) and Entrance Counseling, and I accepted the subsidized loan. I know I should have done this earlier, but I didn’t realize it was required before disbursement.
I called the UH Financial Aid Office today, but they were too busy, so I requested a callback. Also are they ever gonna call me back?
My questions are:
If my summer balance is already paid, can the subsidized loan still be disbursed and refunded to me?
Has anyone had a loan disburse after completing the MPN and Entrance Counseling later in the term?
How long did it take to receive your refund after everything was completed?
Is there any reason the school might deny disbursement even if I completed all the requirements?
Thanks in advance for any advice or experiences!
