are checks in the mail deals actually cheaper than ordering through bank?

I may write only 10 checks a year but I have to keep some on hand for landlord and for few small contractors who refuse anything digital. Bank charge me like 30 plus for a box and I keep seeing checks in the mail at a fraction of that.

Anyone actually used them for long term, no fraud issues, bank accepts them without flagging etc. And what coupons are people using because first order pricing on their site is wildly different from the reorder pricing.
