Is a Surface pro 7 good for simhub?
Hi everyone,
I’m a console sim racer and I only play Gran Turismo 7 on PS5. I don’t own a gaming PC and I don’t really plan on switching to PC racing anytime soon.
I’m currently building a more immersive sim rig with:
Fanatec wheel and pedals
SimHub (planned)
Maybe Bass Shakers or a Sensit Haptics seat in the future
A dedicated dashboard mounted to the rig
I found a used Surface Pro 7 (i5-1035G4, 8 GB RAM) for around €160.
My idea is to permanently mount it to my rig and use it for:
SimHub dashboards
Fanatec firmware and driver updates
Future SimHub accessories (bass shakers, LEDs, etc.)
General rig configuration
Since I don’t have a Windows PC, this would basically become my dedicated “sim rig computer.”
Do you think this makes sense, or is it overkill?
Would you buy a Surface Pro for this purpose, or would you recommend something else (mini PC, cheap laptop, etc.)?
I’d like this setup to last for the next 5 years if possible.
Thanks!
