i did my first road opener spell help me !!!

Everything went smoothly I was sitting with the candle all the time the flames were stable and smooth and the other candle i burnt just to notice was stable too. But in the end since I put alot of sugar in the tea light cup (the one's in which it comes in) the sugar almost turned it was black and fully burning so as a baby witch who's still learning I said you have done your job,and the spell is done and it's working it is done it is done it is done, and blew it off because i thought it was gonna catch a fire..was I not supposed to do it?
