Traveling as a father

Does anyone have any experience with traveling while having a wife and children? In April, I both topped out and became a father. I'm making okay money now but I see the money that can be made out on the road and really want to give it a shot to better provide for my family.

I know it can be done but I'd like to hear from others about their experiences and what worked for them: did you take your family with you? Fly home once a month? Face time every night? Etc etc
