Men In Elementary Teaching
This is my first ever reddit post so I apologize if I posted this in the wrong area, or wrong category. I’m new to this.
I’m a 32 year old male with multiple years of paraprofessional experience and decided to finish my Early Childhood degree while doing that.
I’ve spent the last 3 years applying for teaching jobs across Northern IL and have only received a couple interviews and nothing from those.
Most hirings made in those positions are fresh out of college women. Which is fine, I’m just starting to feel a bit discouraged and wonder if it’s time to make a career switch.
Is there any other educators, possibly men, out there in Elementary Education with success stories, advice or anything pertaining to my problem? Finding it hard to keep looking without having doubt.
I know it could possibly be my interviews, perhaps what I’m saying, or a plethora of things.
Thanks for reading.
