Rick Wilson and Andrew Wilson break down the difficult electoral math facing Democrats in Georgia and Michigan before turning to the Republican Party’s emerging midterm strategy: call everything “communism.”

They examine Georgia’s complicated turnout puzzle, where Democratic candidates must energize Black voters across Atlanta, Savannah, Augusta, and rural parts of the state while still winning enough moderate and suburban voters to stay competitive. Rick and Andrew also explain why Georgia’s long history of ticket-splitting makes the race especially difficult to predict—and why a strong Democratic Senate candidate does not automatically guarantee success elsewhere on the ballot.

From there, the conversation moves to Michigan’s crowded Democratic Senate primary and the risk of a bruising internal fight. Rick and Andrew discuss how different candidates could assemble very different coalitions, why ideological labels may matter more in the general election than in the primary, and how Republicans are already preparing to weaponize words like “socialist” and “communist” against any Democrat they think they can define as too far left.

The accusation may be absurd, but Rick argues that Republicans do not need voters to understand the policy differences. They only need the label to trigger a familiar emotional response. He says Fox News viewers have been conditioned for decades to associate Democrats with communism, socialism, the Soviet Union, and the Red Scare—describing some of them as having been trained “like clapping seals” to react when those words appear.

Andrew adds that this is not just random rhetoric. Republicans are using the message because they believe it still activates their base. After cycling through immigration, fraud, and culture-war attacks, MAGA is returning to one of its oldest and most reliable campaign weapons: fear.

Rick and Andrew explain why that strategy may be intellectually dishonest, why it can still work politically, and what Democrats need to understand before Republicans turn “communism” into a central message of the midterms.
