This Time Last Year 07/13/2025 - 07/13/2026

On this day Finally settled into a real studying schedule after trying all of May and half of June reading, watching, and forgetting every study material i came across. Never was the complete law student or student in the word, my life both academically and personally was built on the phrase "just enough". Through disappointing semester grades, missed opportunities from laziness, and general non enthusiam since entering law school, the journey was the definition of suffering, a self created Gehenna sapping of essence. Graduation was sweet but leaves a bitter taste by night knowing the last exam was ahead. Through May I want to say I studied but throughout the entire month till the second half of June I was reading, watching, and forgetting it all much like many, I felt no matter how much I read, my results did not translate. MEEs, MPTs, and UBE Qs all of them - improvement was minuscule. On this day last year, 07/13/2025, I stayed up till 5am after studying for 2 hours the previous day, going to sleep and waking up drenched in sweat at 1am and studied till my eyes felt like bleeding. At 4 am, i took a sharpie, wrote on a piece of paper and told myself if by next year I did not pass the upcoming exam, I was not good enough and needed to leave the law field entirely. The follwoing weeks leading up to the exam I spent 9-12 hours a day studying, the fear of knowing the answer to my question was my motivation during that time and during the exam.

October came, as much as I felt I failed the exam and partially studied during the previous months of waiting for the results, I clicked the email armed with an apology for my mother and predetermined disappointment, my score was 270. 270, the score that was just enough for a licence in my state, a score just enough to never think of the exam again, a score meaning I was always good enough simply because it was "just enough".

Today on this day 07/13/2026, I stayed up all night looking at the same paper of the promise to leave the field with work assignments due in the morning knowing i did just enough to become everything I couldnt believe possible. As I looked through reddit stories and anxiety posts to help me through the last few weeks of the exam, the ones I felt gave me the most comfort were the success stories and i promised myself to make one, my only reddit post, to give even 1 person belief that someone with a 2.4 GPA could do, what you know you can do, more belief in knowing YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH TO PASS THIS EXAM
