07/13 Word of the Day: Generosity
Word of the Day: Generosity
There are times when a small act of kindness stays with you far longer than you expected. A thoughtful word, an unexpected gesture, or someone simply giving you their time can quietly change the course of an ordinary day. Often, what makes these moments so meaningful isn't their size, but the care behind them.
Generosity is often misunderstood as something measured by how much we give. In reality, it begins with a willingness to notice what another person may need. Sometimes generosity is sharing resources. Other times it is offering patience, encouragement, forgiveness, or your full attention. Its value is not found in its cost, but in its sincerity.
Generosity also has a quiet way of changing the person who gives. It gently shifts our focus away from scarcity and toward connection. We begin to see that even small acts of care can create a sense of belonging, both for others and for ourselves.
As you move through today, notice an opportunity to give without expecting anything in return. It may be a smile, a listening ear, or a few moments of your time. Generosity rarely asks us to do something extraordinary. More often, it invites us to remind someone, including ourselves, that kindness is never too small to matter.
