Context: The Mori are parasitooid sophonts from my setting. They are nomads who had a mass exodus from their homeworld when a star near their home system went supernova, millennia ago. Most of Mori history is shrouded in folk tale and myth and no one is sure what they originally looked like but current consensus is that they were likely soft bodied.

Mori reproduction involves a Mori male and female and a host from another species. The female deposits her egg into the host and the male fertilises it. The child matures inside the host and also adapts several genetic features from their host parent. This is why the various Mori tribes have diverged both culturally and biologically. The Neferiooc tribe of the Orion Arm for example, have adapted canid traits from their hosts. It is theorised that the Mori gained sapience by implanting children into other sapient hosts on their homeworld.

From their folk tales, it is clear that death of hosts from childbirth was once a frequent tragedy for them. The primitive Mori dedicated their science to find ways to prevent that and preserve their hosts. The Mori love their hosts and testimony to that is the throuple family structure being common across all the diverse and disparate Mori tribes and clans. With contemporary nanobots, surgical robots and biotechnology, the horror of hosts dying from children abruptly emerging from their chests is a tale from a bygone age.

The Mori would be absolutely horrified by what some of their trope siblings are doing.
