Can I drive to NYS Salvage Examination with previous owner's plates?

I have my salvage exam this Friday and my dad did not tick yes for transport permit on the application. Can I drive there using the previous owner's plates? Will this be an issue? I also bought the car as is, and I haven't done any repairs. The previous owner told us to write down vandalism as type of salvage. I also have the airbag and tire pressure lights on. I have no idea if the airbag was deployed or not. Will any of these also cause a fail?
