Learning Mongolian & Mongolian History

Ta sain bainuu! I am an American who is currently in an LDR with someone who lives in UB, and I would like to learn more Mongolian before I visit some time next summer --- are there any language workbooks (somewhat like Genki with Japanese) that anyone would recommend?

Also, this is partially due to my own interests/hobbies & academic aspirations, but are there any books about Mongolian history that anyone would recommend? Particularly those regarding Mongolian history during and after the Revolution of 1911?
