31F #UK - Why is making long-term friends so difficult as an adult? πŸ˜‚πŸ‘€

[F4R]

Every time I make one of these posts, I tell myself, "Surely this is the one." Then I remember the internet is full of people who introduce themselves by saying they love talking... before replying once every twelve hours with "haha." πŸ˜‚

So, here I am, again, stubborn as ever. The good news is that I've already met a couple of genuinely lovely people through Reddit, which means I know the people I'm looking for actually exist. I'd just really like to find another friend or two who enjoy conversations that don't need life support after three messages πŸ™‚β€β†•οΈ.

A little about me...πŸ’œ

I'm 31, from England, and definitely on the alternative side. I've got a shaved head with longer hair on top, currently dyed bright red πŸ™Œ, five tattoos, and enough black clothes to make people think I forgot other colours exist. Music is a massive part of my life, and my playlists are all over the place. Joji is permanently at the top, but you'll also find Twenty One Pilots, Bring Me The Horizon, Glass Animals, NF, Mac Miller, and plenty of other artists depending on the mood 🀘.

When I'm not listening to music, you'll usually find me on my PS5. Fallout 76 has completely stolen my attention lately, but I'm always happy to try something new if I'm playing with the right person. One thing that makes me a little different is that I genuinely prefer voice notes and calls over endless texting. Once we're comfortable, I'd much rather hear someone laughing halfway through a story than spend ages trying to work out what "lol" actually meant. Voice chats also help a lot with my anxiety, so they're something I really appreciate.

I'd love to find people who enjoy genuine friendships. The kind where you randomly check in on each other, send memes because they reminded you of something someone said, celebrate the little wins, and somehow end up talking for nearly an hour because one person asked a completely ridiculous question. If you're in the UK, even better. Similar time zones make things easier, but I'm happy to chat with anyone who enjoys putting effort into a friendship and doesn't disappear into the void after a couple of days πŸ˜‚.

One tiny request...

Please don't message me with just "Hey" or "How are you?" Give me something to reply to. Tell me about a hobby you've picked up, a song you've had on repeat, the weirdest fact you know, or something completely random that happened this week. I'm mostly looking for people between 24 and 35, although I'm not going to panic if you're a little outside that range. And if we've spoken before but drifted apart, feel free to message again. Life happens.

If you've actually read all of this, tell me your age, where you're from, one completely random fact about yourself, and sneak a πŸ• somewhere into your message so I know you didn't just skim to the end.

Here's hoping this reaches the people who still believe the best friendships are built through genuine conversations, shared laughs, mutual effort, and occasionally sending each other memes at completely inappropriate times. πŸ˜‚

And yes... I'm still a real person. I promise. πŸ‘€.
