does appraisal matter more than CP?

I’ve been going through my pokémon inventory to transfer some duplicates out since i have so many of the same type, but not sure the best approach to it.

for example, i have a pikachu at 389 CP with a zero star appraisal, and another pikachu at 172 CP with a 3 star appraisal.

i typically don’t do PvP battles, just gym battles and the team rocket battles, but I’ve wondered if the appraisals really mean anything in comparison to CP (like if the appraisal shows low defense, is it likely to faint quicker?)

which one would be better to keep and continue powering up and evolving?
