Specimen collected outside the institution
Recently started sa isang primary hospital in the province. Yesterday may pina process na specimen for CBC sakin that was extracted by a nurse. Dahil toxic, I understood it na yung nurse employed sa hospital and extracted the sample "outside" (perhaps sa home ni patient). I was given a slightly underfilled EDTA specimen, prob needing around 15 ul more volume para ma-reach ang line. I still processed it since yun naman kadalasan nmin ginagawa as long as walang plt clump flagging.
For the results, Very low yung WBC and platelets. I manually checked yung pbs and mababa nga tlga especially yung platelets tho walang clumps. The patient's s/o (who brought the specimen to the lab) said na may dengue fever si patient. Dahil correlated naman and repeated naman ang run, I released the result with remarks na manually verified.
Later on nung nag out na, dun ko nalaman na yung specimen collected pala outside by a nurse na hindi kilala ng recep namin nor is he/she employed sa hospital. I'm overthinking na baka may mangyari sa patient and sakin ang sisi dahil nag release ako ng sobrang mababang results. Would this be grounds to have my licensed revoked? Bago palang ako sa hospi na toh, hindi ko expect na may mangyayaring ganito.
