We Gotta Pay For Word Now?

So I opened Word this morning to create a simple document, and I'm being prompted to pay for Word now...the same Document creator I've used on this computer for almost 10 years now. Like everything else in this world you gotta pay now. Everything is hidden behind a stupid login, password, on "the cloud" yes I'd love to go back to 2005 when things were so much more simpler...anyways, whats an alternative to Word because Im not paying for it?

Also remember when you could play Solitaire and not have a stupid ad interrupt you every few minutes? Jesus what a world we live in now...
