The Strength of the Scholarly Evidence Broke abul_miswar_zayd

For context, this dude published:

I responded with:

My response addressed his misuse of ibn al-Qayyim, ibn Taymiyyah, Sahnoon, and other scholarly sources. It challenged his treatment of Ahlul-Qiblah, his indiscriminate application of takfeer, his historical misattributions, and his inconsistent standards.

His answer was the following:

Kindly requesting this mentally ill gay dark skinned skinny man to stop tagging me as I genuinely feel unsafe

u/Extension_Brick6806

The beginning of what you write is projection that indicates how terribly you need professional help Please stop tagging me or trying to speak to me as I am not gay and I understand your preferences and will not hurt you for them but you have to respect my boundaries and stop trying to tease me or whatever

The only Rafidhi is you and the only boy/man you can seduce is someone who admires Suyuti and that isn't me

Also I understand how your lusts may get fiery which is why you choose to speak on every little thing I do out of adoration but please show some respect to gay persons and speak to u/wild_extra_dip in a debate as he requested or else you're being a disgrace to the LmodaGanBT community

This reply leaves his original post entirely undefended.

He did not identify a mistranslation. He did not challenge the authenticity of a quotation. He did not provide the missing context of any scholarly passage. He did not explain the distinction between general and individual takfeer. He did not answer the historical point concerning Sahnoon. He did not address a single substantive argument.

Instead, he substituted racialized remarks, sexual allegations, mockery involving mental illness, and personal name-calling for a scholarly answer.

In the Shari'ah, if the legal conditions are fulfilled, the one who makes such an unfounded accusation deserves to be flogged with eighty lashes due to qadhf. Imam ibn Qudaamah said in al-Mughni:

Whoever accuses a man of the act of the people of Loot, whether as the doer or the one acted upon, then the hadd of qadhf is upon him.

Alleging that my response has anything to do with my allegedly being "dark skinned" is itself Jaahiliyyah behavior. This is illustrated by the hadith in which a Sahaabi disparaged another man through his mother, saying, "O son of a black woman." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) responded:

إِنَّكَ امْرُؤٌ فِيكَ جَاهِلِيَّةٌ

"You are a man in whom there is Jaahiliyyah."

Meaning, he possessed one of the characteristics of Jaahiliyyah.

The Sahaabi himself was not characterized by this behavior, may Allah be pleased with him. Rather, it occurred as an individual lapse during a moment of anger, and he accepted the Prophet's correction, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. However, this Haddaadi did not merely let such a statement slip in a moment of anger. He deliberately introduced my alleged skin color into a scholarly dispute as a means of disparagement. It is therefore not an answer to the evidence, but another illustration of the Jaahiliyyah characteristics found in their conduct.

Furthermore, supporting the point that this behavior contains one of the characteristics of nifaaq is the statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him):

"There are four characteristics: whoever possesses all of them is a pure hypocrite, and whoever possesses one of them possesses a characteristic of hypocrisy until he abandons it: when he is entrusted, he betrays the trust; when he speaks, he lies; when he makes a covenant, he acts treacherously; and when he disputes, he resorts to wicked and obscene conduct."

Narrated by al-Bukhaari and Muslim. The relevant part here is:

وَإِذَا خَاصَمَ فَجَرَ

"And when he disputes, he resorts to wicked and obscene conduct."

The prescribed methodology of Ahlus-Sunnah in criticism is to speak about statements and their authors with knowledge and justice, to refute errors through revealed and scholarly evidence, and to distinguish sincere clarification from personal degradation. By contrast, the early imams identified disparagement of Ahlul-Athar, contempt for them, and defamatory labels as recurring characteristics of Ahlul-Bid'ah.

Allah says:

"And do not let your hatred of a people cause you to act unjustly. Be just; that is nearer to righteousness."

At-Tabari explained:

"Do not let your hostility toward a people cause you to abandon justice in judging them and dealing with them, thereby wronging them because of the hostility between you and them."

(Source)

At-Tabari further states that justice must be maintained toward everyone, whether friend or enemy.

This is the foundation. Opposition, hatred, and genuine religious disagreement do not permit distortion, selective quotation, false attribution, or unjust personal attacks.

Shaykhul-Islam ibn Taymiyyah said:

والكلام في الناس يجب أن يكون بعلم وعدل، لا بجهل وظلم، كحال أهل البدع

"Speaking about people must be based upon knowledge and justice, not ignorance and injustice, as is the condition of the people of innovation."

(Source)

Imam ash-Shaafi'ee said:

ما ناظرت أحدًا قط إلا على النصيحة.

"I never debated anyone except with the intention of sincere counsel."

He also said:

"I never debated anyone without wishing that he would be granted success, correctness, assistance, care and protection from Allah. I never debated anyone while caring whether Allah made the truth clear upon my tongue or his tongue."

Abu Haatim ar-Raazi (d. 277 H) said:

وعلامة أهل البدع الوقيعة في أهل الأثر

"A sign of the people of innovation is their disparagement of the people of transmitted reports."

He continued:

(Source)

He lists the disparaging labels used against Ahlus-Sunnah: "Hashwiyyah," "Mushabbihah," "Mujbirah," "Naasibah," and others. His point is that these labels function as a substitute for answering the transmitted evidence. This is recorded by al-Laalikaa'i from ibn Abi Haatim's transmission from his father.

Abu 'Uthman as-Saabooni (d. 449 H) wrote:

"The signs of innovation upon its adherents are evident and manifest. Among their clearest signs is their intense hostility toward the transmitters of the reports of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), their contempt for them, and their calling them Hashwiyyah, ignorant, literalists, and anthropomorphists."

(Source)

He then explains that this arises from their belief that the prophetic reports are separate from genuine knowledge, while what they produce from their own speculative reasoning is supposedly knowledge.

This directly confirms the point I made: rather than dealing justly with the proofs transmitted by Ahlus-Sunnah, they attack the carriers, portray them as ignorant, and impose defamatory labels upon them.

Ibn Rajab explained:

"Refuting weak opinions and clarifying the truth contrary to them through the revealed proofs is not something those scholars disliked. Rather, it is something they loved, and they praised the person who did it."

He then said:

"As for clarifying the error of a scholar who preceded him, when he observes proper conduct in his address and answers and refutes properly, there is no blame upon him."

(Source)

The Contrast

The methodology of Ahlus-Sunnah: establish the wording, examine the context, understand the intended meaning, apply the relevant principles with knowledge and justice, and refute the error through evidence.

The method displayed in his reply: no answer to the quotations, no correction of the sources, no discussion of the scholarly principles, and no defence of the original post. Instead, there are racialized remarks, sexual allegations, mockery involving mental illness, takfeer, tabdee', and name-calling.

He has not refuted my response. He has demonstrated the very conduct against which the early imams warned.
