Dating through apps in SF: When to disclose being a trans woman
Hi neighbors! So for some context for this question, I’m at a point in my life where I’m essentially post-transition and “stealth passing”. For the most part people I meet while out and about in public have no idea that I’m trans and are surprised when I tell them.
While I am a little tall (6’), I have a very feminine voice (voice surgery with a good outcome), pretty face, hourglass figure, no body hair or facial hair, dress in an appropriately feminine way for my age (early 30s) and have had bottom surgery. Most days I don’t even think about being trans and sort of just go through life as a very basic woman lol.
Now I’m sure I do have some clocky feature or another but because it’s not obvious to most I have to really think about when I disclose to the people I care about.
There are a lot of posts about this subject across Reddit and the opinions always vary a lot, though it seems that regional cultural differences have a large factor.
So I wanted to ask here, as a San Francisco resident in particular (but also extending to the broader Bay Area), what are your thoughts on this? When would you feel is appropriate? Profile bio front and center? Match message? Doing it in chat after a match but before meeting in person? During the first date? Before second date? 😅
Asking about online dating specifically! I think meeting people in person organically it’s a little different, and in that case I would sort of do it when it felt right, but definitely before any second date or before any physical intimacy, whichever comes first lol
