I accepted a full-time job but can’t afford the housing deposit to start. This is my last resort.
Hi everyone,
I never thought I’d be posting something like this, but I’m running out of options.
My name is Andrea. I’m a single mom to two amazing boys, ages 10 and 9. After months of searching, I was recently offered a full-time position as a Legal Assistant with a law firm in Steinbach, Manitoba. I accepted the position, and my start date is August 4.
This job represents a fresh start for my family and a chance to become financially stable again.
The problem is that I need to relocate before I can start, and I’m struggling to secure housing. I found an apartment that could work for us, but I need the damage deposit and first month’s rent to secure it.
Before posting here, I tried everything I could think of:
I explored government assistance, but the programs available to me won’t make a decision before my start date.
I looked into loans, but my credit isn’t strong enough.
I asked my new employer if there was any relocation or advance assistance available, but there isn’t.
I even started a GoFundMe, but it hasn’t reached many people.
I’m not asking because I don’t want to work. I already have the job. I’m asking because I need help getting over this one obstacle so I can start working and support my boys.
If you’re able to donate or even just share my fundraiser, I would be incredibly grateful. If not, thank you for taking the time to read my story.
