Could the Falklands/Malvinas issue have played a role in Messi never learning English?

I know the obvious explanation is that he spent almost his entire career in Spanish-speaking countries, so he never really needed to learn English.

But considering how significant the Malvinas/Falklands issue is in Argentina, is it possible that it also played some role, even subconsciously? Messi has always seemed very proud of being Argentine, so I wonder if that historical context could have influenced him in some way.

Or is this a complete reach on my part?
