how to maintain my progress while attending academy?

Programming

I plan to attend a police academy soon, and in their training they require recruits to run 1.5 miles monday-friday (weekends off). There training program is a mix of bodyweight calisthenics and running for a 6 month academy.

I am curious if I should just lay off all olympic lifting for 6 months and then after 6 months, if I go back to lifting, will I still lose alot of progress?

or:

what is my strategy to maintain my lifting progress through out the 6 months without overtraining? With all that running everyday in the academy already, my knees might already be getting torched. I'm also 35 years old. I'm wondering if I should just lift once a week?
