Looking for Passionate Collaborators – Indian Dark Fantasy Manga (Long-Term Project)

Hi everyone!
I’m currently developing an original manga called BEEJ: The Twins of Prayag, and I’m looking for passionate people who’d like to become part of something ambitious from the ground floor.
This isn’t a quick comic or weekend project. It’s a long-term worldbuilding effort that I’ve been developing for months with an extensive story bible, visual bible, constitutional canon, character dossiers, mythology research, and production pipeline already in place.

The Story
India, 630 CE.
Five-year-old twins Anya and Arya travel with their parents to the sacred Maha Kumbh pilgrimage at Prayag.
During the overwhelming crowds at the Triveni Sangam, the twins are separated—not only from their parents, but from each other.
Anya is quietly led away by an old woman in a thin red sari toward a hidden lineage devoted to the forgotten Mahavidyas.
Arya disappears into the cremation grounds, where he is taken in by a terrifying occult master whose teachings revolve around forbidden rituals, spirits, relics, and the legend of the blood-seed demon Raktabeej.
Years later, the twins unknowingly stand on opposite sides of an ancient conflict that has been unfolding for centuries.
This isn’t a simple story about good versus evil.
It’s about destiny, karma, grief, sacrifice, mantra, rebirth, forgotten history, and the terrifying compassion of the Divine Mother.

Think:
Dark fantasy
Ancient India
Berserk meets Vinland Saga meets Dororo
Indian mythology treated with respect rather than simply copied
Slow-burn mysteries
Emotional sibling tragedy
Cinematic manga storytelling

What’s Already Done
A surprising amount.
So far I’ve completed (or am actively completing):
Hundreds of pages of story development
Canon Constitution governing continuity
Visual Bible
Character Bible
World Bible
Hidden Mahavidya lore
Village, relic and mythology systems
Power system (Mantra • Yantra • Mudra • Sankalpa)
Major story arcs
Character designs
Environment concepts
Manga visual language
Production pipeline
Crowdfunding strategy
Future anime adaptation planning
The goal is to build something that feels like a genuine premium manga series—not just another webcomic.

Who I’m Looking For
I’m open to meeting people from different backgrounds, including:
Manga artists
Character designers
Background artists
Storyboard artists
Writers
Editors
Letterers
Concept artists
Researchers familiar with Indian history or mythology
Animators
Anyone excited by building an original IP
Even if your skills don’t perfectly fit, I’d still love to hear from you if the project genuinely excites you.

Compensation
I want to be completely transparent.
This is currently an independent passion project.
At this stage I can’t offer upfront payment.
The plan is to launch crowdfunding once enough material has been completed and to pursue publication and commercial opportunities afterward.
Anyone joining now would be doing so as an early collaborator, with compensation intended to come from crowdfunding, future sales, licensing, or other revenue generated by the project. Any such arrangements would be discussed openly and agreed upon before production work begins.
I completely understand this won’t be for everyone, and I respect that.

Why I’m Doing This
I’ve spent over two decades working in film, VFX, and production, and I’ve always wanted to create an original world rooted in Indian mythology that could stand alongside the great dark fantasy manga—not by imitating them, but by telling a story that feels authentically Indian.
If you’ve ever wished there were a Berserk-quality manga inspired by Indian mythology, maybe we should talk.

If this project resonates with you, send me a message with a little about yourself, your interests, and any portfolio or previous work.
Even if you’re just curious, I’d love to chat.
