I’ve spent my whole life waiting for someone to ask if I was Okay.
I think I've spent my whole life waiting for someone to ask if I was okay.
I don't think I ever learned how to ask for help.
I learned how to survive.
I learned how to smile when I was hurting.
How to tell people, "I'm fine."
How to keep moving because that's what everyone expected.
The silence was always the hardest part.
When everything finally got quiet, my mind got loud.
I've lost people I love.
I've battled addiction.
I've carried guilt that wasn't mine to carry.
I've questioned whether I'd ever become someone I could be proud of.
Recovery didn't erase any of that.
It just taught me something I wish I'd known years ago...
You don't have to hit rock bottom to deserve help.
Lately I've been working on something that's reminded me of an important truth:
Everyone has a story they're carrying.
Some people just never get asked about it.
So maybe I'll ask here.
When was the last time someone genuinely asked if you were okay... and waited for the real answer?
I'd love to hear your story.
