For Anyone Looking to Support Black-Owned Businesses in Cape Town

Travel Report 📋

After spending hours researching Black-owned businesses in Cape Town, I finally put together a solid list of current, verified establishments for anyone who wants to intentionally support Black-owned businesses while visiting or living in the city.
Some of these places fall outside the mainstream, but I prioritized 100% Black ownership.

During my research, I repeatedly came across businesses that market themselves using African culture, aesthetics, or staff, yet are not actually Black-owned (such as Mama Africa and GOLD). There is a HUGE economic war going on. The white population is just 7% but own about 73% of businesses. I have become VERY intentional about spending at Black owned businesses and thought this might be beneficial if anyone ever makes it to South Africa!!

This list is still a work in progress, so if you know of any verified Black-owned businesses I’ve missed, please add them in the comments. I’d love for this to become a comprehensive community resource.
