When people quotes statistics but then act like those statistics don't apply to them.

Bit Annoyed

Whether the statistic is true or not is irrelevant to my pet peeve here. I was having a discussion with a friend of mine and he casually during our conversation brought up how half of people in relationships cheat. I simply said to him that means either you or your partner is cheating.

Now of course I fully understand what he's saying but statistically speaking either him or his partner is cheating. But he stubbornly refused to accept that I was right.

I get that he's saying him and his partner aren't cheating so that means there's another couple out there where both of them are cheating. But that's not how statistics work.

If you say 50%, then it's 50% across everyone not just who you point your finger at.

This is just one of many instances where people apply statistics but then act like they don't apply to them specifically.
