New study: Even after being shown the recommended way to wear a seatbelt, most pregnant participants couldn't achieve it
Came across this today and thought it might be relevant here.
Researchers at UBC found that only about 1 in 10 pregnant participants were able to achieve the currently recommended seatbelt positioning, even after receiving instruction and hands-on guidance. The biggest challenge was keeping the shoulder belt centred between the breasts as pregnancy progressed.
One thing the researchers stress is that seatbelts are still essential during pregnancy—the findings aren't saying not to wear one. Instead, they're highlighting that current seatbelt designs may not fit pregnant anatomy as well as intended, and that future restraint systems could be improved.
Here's the CTV story:
Curious if folks find it difficult to position the shoulder belt exactly as recommended later in pregnancy?
