New player wondering where to start.

Sorry if this feels a bit like a generic "where do I start". I have been interested in necromunda for a while now but after getting on a recent miniature gaming kick I wanted to look at finally getting into necromunda. Part of what has drawn me into the game is the campaign rules and terrain elevation rules. I've played Warhammer 40k and kill team in the past but Warhammer games always felt super long and one sided and the kill team rules set felt like it was missing something. Necromunda seems to dodge these issues.

In researching I found that there is a new edition coming out and was wondering if it is worth trying to get into it now or waiting till then and buying that starter set? If I choose to wait how long should I expect till they come out? I have had a hard time finding a group to play necromunda in upstate SC but I also have gone exploring a ton. Any help is appreciated.
