So much new and so little knowledge on where to start

I've re-downloaded the game today.. after about 3 years (Since Sumeru ended or so..) and I have no clue what to do now, builds are wack, not sure where to progress further to help with that, gaining gems, or even doing events, or anything for that matter. I just need some POINTERS and figured this would be the best place to ask... thanks..
