Worth replacing an old hood during a light refresh?
We are doing a light kitchen refresh and keeping the original upper cabinets. The current 30 inch under cabinet hood still works and vents outside, but it is loud, looks dated, and the physical buttons always feel sticky.
I am not trying to turn this into a bigger project. I do not want to move ductwork, cut cabinets, or patch drywall if I can avoid it. I just want to know if replacing the hood is a reasonable homeowner upgrade while we are already working on the kitchen.
I have been looking at a few options:
Broan NuTone 30 inch: standard stainless box design, physical buttons, around 400 CFM.
Hauslane Chef Series: cleaner front panel, touch controls, higher advertised airflow.
ROBAM U3: 30 inch under cabinet style, cleaner flat front with wave control, top or rear vent setup depending on install.
These are in different price ranges, so I am trying to figure out what actually matters most here. Would you prioritize vent alignment, noise, CFM, controls, install guide, or just pick whatever is easiest to swap into the existing space?
