Im struggling and don’t know how to move forward.

Need Support

My situation is different and hits too many grey areas that most do not see as infidelity as it wasn’t physical cheating. However by our boundaries we made before getting together two years ago,it is cheating to us and within our relationship.

My boyfriend of two years had tinder on his phone,I found out about a month ago.He told me he didn’t use it and it was only there from a back up download when transferring data. He told me he never used it,and never has even before we got together. He said he didn’t know it was there. However I found out he had it after he got a text off tinder reminding him to log on to stop deactivation,he had 4 reminders in the text thread so he knew it was on his phone.

After lying about it for weeks and weeks I finally got the truth out of him and he told me he did in fact use it after we’d had an argument. He used tinder, said he only looked for 30 seconds before regretting it and deactivating it. However that alone and the fact he had all those thoughts and intentions are enough to break the boundary we created at the start together. He also agrees it’s cheating too,the thought alone is the issue not the action itself. He’s tried to reassure me and such, but I have one niggle that shows me he really isn’t and wasn’t remorseful at all,and that he had every intention to do it again…the night he done it was in February. I found the app still on his phone 4 weeks ago. If he felt that guilty,he’d surely of deleted the app itself. But he kept it ready and waiting in the background. All the hiding and the lies he tells me are making me even more suspicious that if he never got caught…he’d continue using it from time to time after arguments, that would then start to become more of a full time habit when not arguing or angry just for the adrenaline, dopamine and ego boost it gave him.

I’m stuck in a limbo as it wasn’t physical cheating, but it is cheating by our mutual boundaries we set and the constant lies he told me and continues to tell me when asked questions..is making me steer more towards leaving.

Has anyone else went through this kind of situation?
