Is pursuing econ good for finance or diplomacy?

11th grade student from india.

After a lot of thinking and also claude and chatgpt convos, i changed to commerce from science stream.

The reason being im interested in finance sector and government than engineering/medical. Also since theres alot of competition in jee and i made up my mind to swtich to diplomacy later i dont wanna do engineering.

Ive been thinking of doing a BA economics degree and later MSc quant economics from indian statistical institute or mba. And also try the upsc exam for foreign service.

However i dont know if econ bachelors is a good choice and i have ruined my potential by dropping science now.

Im also a top scorer of my school so people think bit odd of me to not go in the jee/neet race.

And for stem, ive been interested in space as a kid but since it requires phd and also ig jee i decided to keep it as a fascination or hobby. Also its very narrow.

If theres any indians or just any1 could u guide me in this and i would like brutally honest replies.
