Tips for pitch ?

I'm playing Star Player mode as a starting pitcher, but the problem is that whenever I get hit, it results in a home run or at least a base hit. I try to mix up my pitches, but the issues persist (I have a 7 ERA lol). I've also noticed that many pitches right on the edge of the strike zone are being called ball, i hope this gets fixed.
