I have lived my life to fit my parents needs

I live with my parents in my early 20s and it is awkward to date when they wanna know your every move. And I just had a realization, fuck that, i should be able to live my life the way i want regardless of what they think.

Coming from an immigrant family, my parents basically started from the bottom. I remember in high school, they would talk about financial struggles, and I would worry about wanting basic things like clothes, shoes, etc. I didn’t ask for much. In college, I did online classes, so that they didn’t have to buy a car for me. I realized that it was never my place to worry about financial problems at that age. I was never asking for anything extraordinary. I have always lived my life the way it is convenient for them.
